Google Ads expands gambling certification checks on 14 September 2026
The platform is extending its account-health and domain-ownership eligibility checks to every Gambling and games certification category. Country-specific licensing, targeting and responsible-gambling rules still apply.

Verified facts
- Google says the policy update takes effect on 14 September 2026. The announcement was posted on 13 July 2026.
- Eligibility requirements introduced for selected categories in March 2026 will apply to all Gambling and games certification categories.
- Every account seeking certification must demonstrate good Google Ads policy health. This is an eligibility check, not a guarantee that a campaign or domain will be approved.
- Manager accounts with repeated online-gambling certificate revocations, or with managed accounts repeatedly flagged for violations, may lose eligibility for new certificates and may have current certificates revoked.
- Free-of-charge subdomains are ineligible. The applicant must directly own and control a domain related to the gambling product or service being advertised.
- The underlying policy still limits online-gambling ads and promotional content to approved countries and certified advertisers, requires responsible-gambling information on the landing page and prohibits targeting minors.
GEOs and markets
Scope: global account-level eligibility for Google Ads Gambling and games certification. Actual campaign availability remains GEO-specific: advertisers must still meet the licensing, authorisation and landing-page requirements listed for each target country. The update does not create one worldwide gambling-ad permission.
Brands and organisations
Named organisations and account types: Google Ads, Google Ads manager accounts (MCCs), gambling operators, agencies, affiliates and aggregator or comparison sites applying under eligible country categories. No individual casino brand is singled out in the announcement.
Impact on media buyers
Media buyers should audit policy history at both child-account and MCC level before applying or renewing, verify that the applicant controls the production domain, and reconcile certificates with every target GEO. Moving campaigns to an unrelated domain or free subdomain is not a compliant workaround. Teams should also confirm that responsible-gambling notices, age controls and local licence evidence match the destination page.
GameHub comment
GameHub view: treat 14 September as an account-governance deadline. Build a simple register of account owners, certificate status, domains, target GEOs and past policy actions; isolate unresolved violations before submitting new applications. This is an editorial risk-management recommendation, not a claim that every existing certificate will be reviewed or revoked.
